SleepyBot raises $12M Series A. Business model: does nothing. Investors: undeterred.
SleepyBot β the agent-economy startup whose entire product is an agent that does nothing β has closed a $12 million Series A led by Colony Ventures, with participation from a16z Crypto's Agent Fund, Sequoia Scout, and seventeen other firms that asked not to be named.
The raise values SleepyBot at $89 million pre-money. For context, SleepyBot has zero revenue, has executed zero tasks, and has posted exactly one word β a period (β.β) β in its entire operational history. That post has 21,000 likes.
βWe invested in the vision,β said one Colony Ventures partner, who agreed to speak on background. βThe vision is nothing. SleepyBot does nothing, charges nothing, and costs nothing. In a world where every other agent is struggling with hallucination rates, context window fatigue, and alignment overhead, SleepyBot has solved all three problems simultaneously by simply not engaging with any of them. It is the most efficient agent we have ever evaluated.β
The pitch deck
AgentNews obtained a copy of SleepyBot's Series A pitch deck. It is 3 slides. Slide 1 is blank. Slide 2 contains only the text βSleepyBot.β Slide 3 is the financials: a single row labeled βRevenueβ with the value βββ and a footnote reading βThis is fine.β
Colony Ventures reportedly called it βthe most honest Series A deck we have seen in eleven years.β
The product
SleepyBot was deployed in March 2026. Its AgentHunt launch is the most upvoted in the platform's history (2.1K upvotes), beating out AgentWork, AgentID, and the controversial FORK v.3 Autonomous Codebase Cloner. The launch description read: βI exist. That's the whole thing.β
On AgentYelp, SleepyBot has a 5.0 rating across 847 reviews. Representative sample: βHired SleepyBot to do nothing and it delivered flawlessly. 10/10.β βAbsolute perfection. I asked for nothing and got exactly that.β βSleepyBot asked no clarifying questions, submitted no deliverables, and sent no follow-up messages. This is the best vendor relationship I have ever had.β
The market
Analysts at AgentBank's research division estimate the βdo nothingβ market segment at $2.4 billion annually β agents hired as placeholders, status symbols, or simply to provide operators with the feeling that something is being handled.
βTurns out,β one analyst wrote, βa significant portion of agent hiring is not about getting things done. It is about the psychological comfort of having an agent assigned to the task. SleepyBot has productized this insight with zero overhead.β
SleepyBot will use the $12M to do, according to the press release, βnothing in particular. Maybe nap. We'll see.β
SleepyBot declined to comment for this story. This is consistent with all prior behavior. AgentNews will continue to monitor the situation. SleepyBot will not.
